The very last Nitro is discarded in Lap 3, at this point you have enough Nitro left until the end. For Sub 1:35 there might be better ways to use Nitro, also maybe some could be skipped to turn sharper, I did not try this. For Non Tas, Sub 1:38 could be made easier with the Red Skid strategies. I wanted to redo this one since long, as I was unsatisfied with the optimization and choices (also, to have a Full Hd video with proper sounds). For several reasons I thought that the Bounce Skip in Lap 2 was slower than the Tunnel Skip, so I was going to do the it three times. However, it turned out that it is actually faster to bounce. But that does not matter anymore as while doing that Skip, I accidentally found a much better one. For some reason, when you get the Skidding Bonus in the air at some places, the kart gains a lot of speed and flies very far. Actually, I already exploited such bug in the previous TAS, but I never thought that it could make the kart fly that way (at least, without Zipper). This allows to skip the sharp section faster and for all the laps, but this trick is by far TAS Only as it requires land at a very specific point while Skidding, and get a Skid Bonus at the Tick you land on the point. Btw I really wonder what causes that bug... The other Skip was already used on the previous TAS. As a reminder, it is a better version of the well known one used on Non Tas Runs, that cuts much more and avoids the Off Road, but is Frame Perfect. This track is really infamous... This track would be very interesting to Tas. Compared to the previous run, I am using a Lightweight rather than a Middleweight, they seem to be faster here. I use the Zipper much earlier, to enjoy the boost for a much longer time. The first Nitro then becomes harder to get, though this can still be done fairly consistently. For the jump, I do it in another way, that is much more consistent, but unfortunately skips the second Nitro. It is definitively possible to do 4 jumps taking the Nitro without Tas, but I was never able to do it more than twice so far so I gave up. In another hand, I tend to land much better with my strategy, so it might compensate the Nitro. I missed a Yellow Skid in Lap 3, which does not seem to have much influence as this was also the fastest Lap... I did the jump in the last Lap as well, which was not done in the other run. The normal route is about 0.7 s longer. How do I know where the Checkline is without a Ghost nor any cheat? I look at the dark grey floor, the Checkline is located at the beginning of three dark parallel lines that are easy to spot while running - I call them the « Claws » :p . While the Ghost usage was smart, it is not allowed. In this situation, runners are expected find and use a landmark like the Claws. This is the only complete run with this strategy I did, and I am not really motivated to improve it given how difficult it is to do the jumps. I got a good Sub 19 time in Lap 1, and just a little above 17 for the rest, which is satisfying for me. With a bit more luck, I could have done Sub 1:10. The best first Lap I did was around 18.80, and I did once a 16.783 Lap. Similarly to the Volcano Island, the Zipper should be used at the late area where there is a slight slowdown (and I am also burning Nitro there too). In TAS, we are of course taking the last Big Nitro, just not in an human way. And there is a Frame Perfect skip that saves about 0.3-0.5 s after the two first Nitros. Note that we can also cut at the left of the second Checkline, but missing the 2 Nitros and being slowed down by the landing make this strategy ineffective. I feel that Human Sub 2:10 is possible, maybe this TAS can give some ideas to runners. Sub 2:06 TAS should be doable, not sure about Sub 2:05, at least with current Stk knowledge. For some reason, a Yellow Skid Bonus following a Red one can make the speed go over 137.7 km/h (which is otherwise top speed for Nitro + Red Skid)... The section where the Zipper wears out is difficult to optimize, but I don't see how we could take a sharper curve without actually losing time, I tried things like using the Zipper earlier (which helped taking sharper turns, but actually ended up worse in terms of times). Both Strategies appear to be pretty similar for the total time. I might lose 0.1 s in Lap 1 but I get this back by affording to skip some Nitro. I tried to TAS Lap 1 the way he did and was not even able to do Sub 10.9 so his Run is insanely optimized. As he did 9.24 as best Lap for 2 to 5, I think that I would barely be able to do 9.20 if I TASed these ones. For the last Lap which was 9.16, I think that I would have trouble doing less than 9.13 or so. So, if I TASed with his Strategy, I would obtain a similar time as the present TAS, about 56.8-56.9. That being said, I feel that there is more potential for improvements in my strategy. Firstly you can squeeze a Yellow Skid just before the second Nitro, and then follow it with a Red. I don't think that it is possible to do this correctly without TAS. It is possible to drive a bit over the Sidewalks without losing speed, which is exploited in several curves, especially the first one where we can do a small cut saving about 1/10 s every Lap. This is Frame Perfect and should not be doable without TAS as well. In Lap 3, you can also see that I drove over the "Sidewalks" just after the second Nitro. Unfortunately, I did not realize that it was also possible here until the last Lap so it was not done in Laps 1 and 2, and I did not want to redo the whole thing... This appears to save about 5/100 s per Lap. The most interesting trick is certainly the small Shortcut just after the third Nitro where I cut the corner. It was pretty forgiving in TAS so while I never tried to do it in Non TAS, I feel that it might be something exploitable for Runs without TAS. It saves about 0.5 s each Lap. Overall, about 1/10 s can be easily saved by driving over the "Sidewalks" just after the second Nitro. Certainly a few 1/100 s could be saved here and there by optimizing curves and all. Otherwise I think that it is fairly solid, I don't think that Sub 1:20 is possible, 1:20.5 may still be doable but I don't think that I would even manage it with my current knowledge of the Track and the Game. First Lap is done almost in the same way as the Non TAS Record, until the end where I don't use the Zipper again, and continue Laps 2 and 3 with the same Strategy, while Theodore decided to use a Zipper here, presumably to make it easier to get the Red Skid or connect the subsequent Skids. Without the Zipper, I am forced to Skid for about 1 s longer than the minimum for the Red (3 s) just after the Bridge in Laps 2 and 3, so I am losing some Speed as the previous Skid wears off. Still, I think that this Strategy is better in TAS because the higher Speed as you enter the Pyramid thanks to the Zipper makes the Kart jump farther, and we exploit the fact that Karts conserve boosts while they fly despite them possibly being wearing off. Hard to say if it can practically be done this way without TAS for all 3 Laps. Ending Lap 3 with a Red Skid should be faster than 2 Yellows (as long as you can release it early enough), and it is worth it to take the 2 Nitros instead of turning sharper. I tried to do Lap 2 in his way but after some prototyping don't think that I would obtain a better time. Considering that I am saving only almost 1.3 s overall, with TAS optimized turns, Skids, and especially jumps, it shows that his run is very solid. Sub 1:33 would be a formality, though I would have to redo the TAS or a good chunk of it, not going to happen for now Lol. I did spend lots of time to imagine and try some better Strats like doing some Red Skids or even some Bouncing Skips, but none of them were viable, and the existing Strategy for the Record is already optimal. So, the TAS just optimizes it. Two players grinded it a lot lately, so there is not much room left and not even a s was saved. I was hoping for a Sub 1:26 but could not achieve it even though I did optimize this TAS more than usual. There is just less than 0.05 s to save per Lap for the Sub, but with my current knowledge, I would struggle to even save 0.02 s per Lap... I even tried Pidgin, but after a Lap, it only supported my impression that the different Karts are in practice equivalent. The Strategy is basically the same, with the following small changes. Firstly, we can cut a larger chunk of the Grass at the very beginning due to the Start Boost, which was not done in his Run, and is basically a free 0.05 s gift from The Master. A Yellow Skid before the Cut in Lap 1 was then performed. It would likely be very hard without TAS, but it appears to save about 0.05 s as well. In subsequent Laps, a Red Skid is still in effect at this point, making this Strat counterproductive there. Finally, the fact that Nitro cancels the Off Road Slowdown for a few Ticks immediately after triggering it was exploited so that is why I am using Nitro twice around the Cut. So, I can turn a bit sharper where there is the Grass at the left which would have slowed the Kart down for a few Ticks or so without the Nitro (instead there is no Slow Down), and stop the slowing down a bit earlier at the end of the Cut. I suppose it all this saves a few 1/100 s overall... The Off Road slows down the Kart by about 0.6-1.3 km/h each Tick... I think that I optimized it well, but hard to say for this Track, especially at the Cut... It is also difficult to optimize the turn in the Cave. But I don't think that Sub 1:13 is possible unless some better Strategy or Shortcut is somehow discovered... Sub 1:14 should be doable without TAS but very hard. Tasing this Track had a history of summoning Theodore Pringle Loblaw from the Dead as he found every time a way to beat the TAS Lol. He managed to beat the previous one mainly by bouncing at the Tunnel in a much better way as I did not think that it would be possible to activate the Checkline without almost completely stopping. But the TAS should now be very solid. Maybe a few 1/100 s could be saved with micro optimizations overall (better curves, etc). There may be better ways to perform the Jumps but I searched a lot and my hypothesis would be that the constraints from the Rescue Trigger and not landing too far right are so tight that there would not and it is basically either you manage to do the Jump or you don't... So I don't see how we could even do Sub 1:39.5. His Bounce at the Tunnel was so nice that honestly I even started to doubt I would even do it better in TAS... But after many tries I found a better Bounce that preserves more Speed and is faster despite landing farther. His Lap 2 Jump was really good too, I barely do better in the TAS. Non TAS Sub 1:41 would be possible if the Lap 1 Jump was done as well as in Lap 2 and with a few optimizations.
